A man that claimed to be shot in the thigh is being charged with falsification. The Marion Police Department responded to the MotoMart on West Center Street Wednesday evening after Kenneth Stapleton age 48, from Marion, claimed to be shot.
Stapleton had a high-powered rifle round removed from his thigh at Marion General Hospital.
Police officer believed the incident may have been staged to get pain-killing medication.
Stapleton was interviewed on Thursday evening and confessed to removing the round from its casing with pliers and then using a hammer to insert it into his own leg.
