Eat Your Way To Happy

They say when you look good, you feel good. But when you eat good, you feel even better. Eating more natural foods helps boost energy and metabolism, so chowing on eats made with limited, whole ingredients with lots of nutrients, good fats, and fiber will help us feel better in general.

We know that eating healthier is good for us in the long run, but a study from Australia found that "eating fruit and vegetables apparently boosts our happiness far more quickly than it improves human health.” Here are some other ways to eat your way to happy.

  • Eat less meat - George Mateljan, author of “The World’s Healthiest Foods” explains that meat “requires better chewing, more acid secretion by the stomach’s parietal cells, and more active enzyme secretion by the pancreas.” Which means your body is working really hard to digest that meaty meal. But there are plenty of plant proteins out there you could eat instead to give your body a break.
  • Listen to Mom and eat your vegetables - She knew what she was talking about. Hiding in carrots and a bunch of other veggies and even some fruits are something called carotenoids, which have been associated with higher levels of optimism.
  • Swap processed sweets for natural sugars - Fruit can satisfy a sweet tooth and it’s so much better for you than any processed cookies, Twinkies, and candy. Eating more fruit will boost energy and you can feel good about choosing to eating natural sweets.
