Teacher Asked People To Help Kids at Her Celebration of Life

A Georgia woman who devoted 30 years of her life to teaching and changing the lives of children, died earlier this month. But before she passed away, she figured out a way to continue helping the children, even though she wouldn't be around.

Tammy Waddell lost her battle with a long illness at the age of 58. But before she passed away, she expressed her wishes to have everyone attending her funeral to bring backpacks filled with school supplies instead of flowers.

Her cousin tweeted a photo of her funeral showing the aisles lined with full backpacks and wrote, "Serving others to the end."

Waddell's obituary read, "Those around her recognized Tammy by her generosity, selflessness and unconditional love. Though her achievements and accolades are numerous, none are greater than the many lives that she changed over the course of her three decades in education."

The backpacks and supplies will be donated to needy students.
