STUDY: Marijuana Lingers For Days In Breastmilk

As weed becomes legal in more states, studies are being conducted on its effects. The lates, by the University of California at San Diego shows marijuana can be detected in a mother's breast milk up to six days after use. Specifically, the compound THC is what stays in the body. A new study in the journal Pediatrics said it was similar for women who smoked pot or consumed an edible.

It's not clear what effect the chemicals in marijuana have on a developing child and researchers say more study is clearly needed. The World Health Organization recommends exclusive breastfeeding for up to six months.
