Parents Blame Electronics For Teens Not Sleeping Well!

It may be dropping it down the priority list.

The C.S. Mott Children's Hospital National Poll on Children's Health at the University of Michigan shows sleep is lacking for many kids and parents are pointing the finger, not at each other, but electronics. More than 40-percent of parents think their teen is having trouble sleeping, and most of them blame technology. 56-percent of parents say their teen is having trouble sleeping because they won't get off their phone, social media, or electronics in general.

And more than 40-percent blamed their student's homework or activities. The parents said they've tried a variety of methods to get their teen to grab more shuteye. The most common of them was cutting caffeine in the evening. Not having enough sleep can lead to serious health problems, as well as an increased risk while they're behind the wheel of a car.

Experts recommend turning off any electronic devices before you start your bedtime routine, keeping them farther than arms length from you, and making sure the room is dark in order to get a good night’s sleep.
