Extreme Cold Prompts Upper Sandusky to Postpone Sanitation

From the Upper Sandusky City Police Facebook Page:

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Watch for our area beginning Tuesday evening and continuing through Thursday afternoon. Due to the frigid temperatures and extremely dangerous wind chill values there will be no trash pick up on Wednesday or Thursday in Upper Sandusky.

The Sanitation Department will resume normal operation on Friday at which time workers will also be collecting trash from the routes normally collected on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Additionally, there will be no recycling pick up on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of this week. The normal recycling schedule will return on Monday, February 4th.

On behalf of Mayor Washburn, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we strive to keep our residents and city employees safe.

Finally, we ask that if at all possible you remain indoors during this time period but if you must go outdoors limit your exposure to no more time than necessary as frostbite could occur in a matter of minutes. Lastly, please remember to protect your pets by providing them a warm space during these harsh weather conditions.
