Naps Could Keep Serious Health Events Away!

If you don’t nap, you may want to think about it. I've been a fan of the 25 minute afternoon nap for years. I have heard nothing but good things about them and now we find out they could save your life!

A new study says taking a nap once or twice a week might help you prevent a heart attack or stroke. Researchers in Switzerland studied more than three-thousand people for five years. They found that healthy adults who took one or two naps a week had a 48-percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease, compared to people who didn’t take naps.

The researchers say the length of the naps didn't seem to matter, the “sweet spot” is the one to two times a week. It’s optimal to reduce health risks. Anything from a five-minute catnap to an hour or more put people in the lower risk category. The research is published in yesterday's edition of the journal Heart.
