Sarah Steinhauer of Calabasas, California, recently celebrated her Bat Mitzvah and was thrilled that guests attending the big party gave her gifts of cash ... not because she wanted to go on a big shopping spree, but instead because she wanted to help her temple feed the hungry.
The money Sarah donated will be used to buy a truck that will collect food and deliver it to the homeless through the nonprofit group Food Forward.
The organization distributes more than a million pounds of food to those in need in Southern California each month and, thanks to Sarah’s generosity, will be able to distribute even more.
