Ohio is Suing 5 RX Companies Over the Opioid Drug Epidemic

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is suing five drug makers over the opioid addiction epidemic in the state. The lawsuit was filed against Purdue Pharma, Endo Health Solutions, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Cephalon Pharmaceuticals and Allergan Pharmaceuticals.

DeWine says the drug companies put profit above the health and well being of the people of Ohio and misled health officials about the addiction risks. The suit specifically notes that the companies are guilty of leading doctors to believe drugs were not addictive, addiction was easy to overcome, and even that an addiction could be treated by taking more pills.

The state is looking to get monetary damages to pay for many costs involved in combatting the epidemic. And to “hold these companies accountable.”
