Mobile Meals of Marion County have announced that they will shut down on October 27th. Mobile Meals has been delivering hot meals to housebound residents in Marion County for more than 40 years. The change in funding and other meal delivery services, most of them federally funded, that have cut into Mobile Meals' client base has led to the decision to shut down. Also the First United Church of Christ, out of whose kitchen Mobile Meals has cooked its meals, is moving to a different location. Mobile Meals of Marion County has operated in a deficit in four of the last five years. Mobile Meals has served more than 2.5 million meals since its first delivery in October 1973.
