A gun was found in a fifth-grader’s backpack at Benjamin Harrison Elementary School Wednesday (October 18) afternoon. According to a press release from the Marion City Police Department, a small caliber handgun was found in the child’s backpack.The press release also stated the father has claimed partial responsibility, he said he mistook the child’s backpack as his own. Since this incident happened at the end of the school day students were dismissed from the building as usual. At this time no charges have been filed, but the incident is still under investigation.
