Orville Honeycutt

Orville Eugene Honeycutt, age 81 of Marion, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. On June 16, 1936, he was born to the late Orville and Mabel Mary (Underwood) Honeycutt, and on November 30, 1963, he married his wonderful wife Ruth (Knotts) Honeycutt, who still survives in Marion.

Orville enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he spent plenty of time on Lake Erie and in Delaware. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, often taking them fishing, watching Walker, Texas Ranger with them, or introducing them to any John Wayne film that may have been on television at the time. He loved spending time with his great-grandchildren as well, and he adored his chihuahua, Little Bits. He was also known for showing everyone the impressive garageful of tools he’d collected over the years. He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Ruth Honeycutt of Marion; his daughters Kathy (Vince) Jacobs of Marion, Sandy (Harry) Kevern of Oviedo, Florida, and Loretta Honeycutt of Marion; his eight grandchildren Erica, Eric, Erin, Jordan Wayne, Anthony, Jay, Annie, and Samantha; his three great-grandchildren Faith, Hope, and Jaxen; his sister-in-law Gretta Guilliam; his brothers-in-law Lloyd and Kenneth Knotts; his niece Mary Alice; his nephew Donnie; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Orville and Mabel, two sisters, and one brother.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Kindred Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
