Marion County Clerk Of Courts Resigning

The Marion County Clerk of Courts is resigning after 19 years in office over accusations of late filings and uncollected property taxes.  The resignation of Clerk Julie Kagel was announced yesterday as county officials begin to audit what could amount to almost 8-million dollars in uncollected revenue.  The Sheriff's Department said there is also a large backlog in the processing of court records which may have allowed convicted felons to be issued concealed carry licenses.  The county said it will begin the process of looking for a new clerk next week.
