Babies and Mobile Devices Don't Mix

Cleveland Clinic Children's officials are advising parents to keep babies and young toddlers away from all electronics for those crucial months when their speech is still developing. Doctor Kimberly Giuliano says children learn speech by experiencing it, and having that communication and interaction with another person. Recent research found that kids between the ages of six months and two years were likely to have a delay in their ability to use sounds and words for every 30 minutes of hand-held screen time per day.

Doctor Giuliano says it's okay to expose a child to educational programming when they are 18 months old. But, she says they shouldn't be watching it alone and recommends having them watch it with a caregiver so there can be interaction about the programming.Source: MetroSource
