A recent study shows 45 percent of women are unaware of the risk factors for the number one killer of U.S. women, heart disease.
Doctor Leslie Cho with the Cleveland Clinic didn't take part in the study, but says there are important risk factors every woman should know. Researchers found that despite a majority of the women having a routine physical in the past year, only 40 percent of them reported having a heart assessment.
Doctor Cho says many times women are focused on reproductive health during their child bearing years that it's easy to put other health care needs to the side. She says this can lead women to skipping a visit with their primary care doctor, which is a missed opportunity to see what their heart disease risk is.
