“Bonespiration” Is A Bad Social Media Trend

Back in 2012, the hashtag #thinspiration was banned because of the disturbing pictures of women and girls looking deathly thin. Now, “#bonespiration” is resulting in even worse photos.

Imagine a girl showing off her rib cage and back bones. Here’s the most concerning part; Psychologist Catherine Talbot of Exeter University Medical School said she had found 140,000 images on Instagram linked to bonespiration in the last week alone.

Of those, 26 percent of bonespiration images show protruding hip bones, 23 percent ribs and 22 percent collarbones.
