An elderly Utah man has done a lot of walking lately, with the hope of finding a miracle for his wife who is suffering from kidney failure.
74-year-old Wayne Winters and his wife have spent two frustrating years trying to find a healthy kidney to save her life, but had no luck. So Wayne decided to take his search on the road.
He started taking long walks while carrying a sandwich board sign reading: "Need Kidney 4 Wife" and included his phone number. He hoped someone would see him and would be a possible match.
Once the local TV station aired a story about him, he started receiving hundreds of calls each day from people wanting to help. Eventually, he and his wife received a call from the hospital with the news they've been waiting for.
There was a kidney waiting for her, and it wasn't even from someone who had seen the story. It was from a donor who had died at the hospital and happened to be a match.
The happy couple is now looking forward to more years together, but Wayne says he's not going to stop walking. He plans to continue his walks to encourage people to become kidney donors.
