We’re learning how much Americans love their comfort food.
Before the coronavirus outbreak, Americans were pushing to eat healthier. We made kale and quinoa everyday staples. And now? Not so much. The biggest reason is how shelf stable certain foods are.
Let’s face it, kale won’t last a month. But Spam or soup? Absolutely. Most comfort foods aren’t fresh and people want that comfort. That’s why Oreos sales are skyrocketing. Spam sales even jumped 37-percent!
Another thing that’s being wiped out in stores is meat. Try and find some on shelves. And after years of lagging sales, potato chips are even feeling the love.
Just remember to leave some on the shelf for others when you shop.
