Is Working From Home Working For You? The Challenges and Benefits!

A lot of Americans are working from home due to the coronavirus, and they are quickly learning that there’s a lot to love about it, and a lot to hate as well.

A new poll finds:

  • 66% of U.S. employees are currently working from home at least part of the time.
  • 44% are working from home at least five days a week, an increase from 17% before the coronavirus.
  • 34% aren’t working remotely at all.
  • For those people who are working from home, the top benefit of working remotely is having no commute (47%).
  • Other top benefits include:
    • More flexible schedule (43%)
    • Don’t have to dress up (33%)
    • Fewer distractions/quieter space (28%)
    • More time with roommates/family/pets (25%)
    • Ability to personalize workspace (14%)
  • Of course working from home isn’t perfect, with the top challenge being that it’s harder to collaborate with co-workers from home (33%).
  • Other challenges include:
    • Interruptions (27%)
    • Harder to stick to a routine (26%)
    • More difficult to stop working at the end of the day (22%)
    • Feeling of isolation and loneliness (21%)
    • Poor Wi-Fi connection (10%)

So, this begs the question, would folks rather work at home or from an office? Well, it seems the results are split.

  • 40% say they’d rather work remotely.
  • 39% would rather work in an office.
  • 21% have no preference.
