Tom Brady's stolen Super Bowl jersey has been recovered in Mexico – with a bonus to boot. The NFL has announced that the missing jersey from Super Bowl 51 as well as another jersey worn by Brady in Super Bowl 49 in 2015 have been found in the possession of a credentialed international media member. The “51” jersey had been valued at 500-thousand-dollars.
As for who “did it,” Martin Mauricio Ortega Camberos was formerly the director of the “La Prensa” newspaper until he resigned last week. Late word overnight is that Ortega was allegedly shopping the “49” jersey for about $75-thousand. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo has declined to say where in Mexico the jersey was found. And while the NFL and FBI are working on authenticating the jerseys, charges are pending against Camberos.
"I am happy my jersey from SB 49 and SB 51 have been recovered, and I want to thank all of the law enforcement agencies involved," Brady said in a statement. "I know they worked hard on this case — and it is very much appreciated. Hopefully when I get the jerseys back I can make something very positive come from this experience."
