A teenager in Wisconsin learned something in school just in time to save her mom’s life.
Eighth grader Katie Murphy recently learned how to spot a stroke in science class and then – just two days later – was hanging around the house with her mother, Chrisa, when her mom started acting strangely.
Sure enough. Christa was having a stroke.
But luckily, Katie recognized the symptoms, knew exactly what was going on and was able to spring into action.
Katie called 911 and her mom was rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed the diagnosis and got to work preventing things from getting worse.
Christa is feeling much better now and undergoing treatment to make sure it doesn’t happen again. She’s also very thankful that Katie does a good job of paying attention in class.
