Delaware, Ohio - The Delaware Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, August 7, 2020, at approximately 4:59 PM, at the intersection of Ohio State Route 521 and Delaware County Route 34, in Kingston Township.
Kenze J. Cox, age 39, of Sunbury, Ohio was operating a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C250 eastbound on State Route 251, Also in the vehicle were two juvenile passengers.
Amanda C. Knave, age 24, of Columbus, Ohio, was operating a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound on County Route 34. Ms. Knave also had a female juvenile passenger.
Mrs. Knave failed to yield from a stop sign on County Road 34 and struck Ms. Cox's vehicle as it was crossing eastbound through the intersection. Both vehicles then traveled off the south side of Ohio State Route 521 and came to a final rest.
Ms. Cox was pronounced deceased at the scene. Ms. Knave was transported by Delaware County EMS to Grant Medical Center, where she was treated for her injuries. Ms. Knave was wearing her seat belt at the time of the traffic crash. One female juvenile passenger was transported by MedFlight and two others by ambulance to Nationwide Children's Hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.
Alcohol or drug usage is unknown at this time. Seat belt usage for the occupants is also unknown.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Delaware County Sheriff's Office, Delaware County EMS, MedFlight, Tri-Township Fire District and Porter-Kingston Fire District.
The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
