Logan Houle Found Guilty by Marion County Jury

MARION, OH – Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Ray Grogan announced today that a Marion jury on Thursday found Logan Houle guilty of Aggravated Robbery and Obstructing Official Business. Houle faces a maximum possible sentence of 12 - 17 ½ years in prison when sentenced.

“This situation could have ended very badly, but for the incredible actions of these fine officers,” said Ray Grogan, Marion County Prosecutor. “We will ask for a lengthy prison sentence,” Grogan said.

On May 13, 2021, Officer Dana Jagger, Officer Justin May, and Lt. Rob Musser of the Marion Police Department responded to an address on Tyler Street in the city of Marion for a man with a knife call. When they arrived, they encountered Houle. At one point, as they were attempting to detain Houle, Houle tried to run from the scene and was apprehended by the officers. Houle then began to fight with the officers, and during that fight, Houle grabbed Officer May’s firearm and pulled on it, attempting to take it. He was finally put into handcuffs shortly thereafter.

During the fight, officers sprayed pepper spray into Houle’s eyes. The officers also had pepper spray get into their eyes. As soon as he was placed in handcuffs, officers requested water from residents and began to flush Houle’s eyes first, before their own.

“This case demonstrates the dangerous that police officers face every day in our community and I want to specifically thank Officer Justin May, Officer Dana Jagger, and Lt. Rob Musser for what they did on that day in May of 2021," said Grogan.

Houle will be sentenced by Judge Matthew P. Frericks at a later date
