On 11/27/2023 at 4:02 PM, Marion Police Officers responded to a report of a train/pedestrian crash at the CSX crossing on W. Center near Curve Street in the City of Marion.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the pedestrian was deceased.
The pedestrian in the fatal train crash has been identified as 64-year-old Will T. Crace of Marion. Crace was observed inside the activated crossing gates, walking Eastbound in front of a train that was travelling NorthEast on the CSX tracks near Curve Street. No foul play is suspected. This investigation remains on-going as investigators await formal autopsy and lab analysis results.
MPD was assisted at the scene by the Marion Fire Department, the Marion County Coroner’s Office and CSX personnel.
