Morrow County Sheriff Deputy Shot, Dies Responding to Domestic Dispute

Statement from Morrow County Sheriff John L. Hinton

Earlier this evening (5/26), the Morrow County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a domestic situation. A sheriff’s deputy responded to a residence located at the 100 block of County Road 26 in Marengo.

Upon the deputy arriving to the residence, an officer involved shooting occurred. The deputy was struck and transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The subject was also shot and was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

There are no words to express the pain being felt by our office.

The incident is under investigation by the Delaware County Sherriff's Office, with assistance by the Ohio Attorney General's Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Any inquiries about the investigation should be directed to the Delaware County Sherriff's Office.

The incident remains an active investigation.
