The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a passenger car and a pedestrian that occurred yesterday around 3:54 P.M. on US 23, south of mile post 9, in Liberty Township, Delaware County. Joseph M. Church, age 17, of Delaware, was driving a Honda CR-V northbound on US 23 when he traveled outside of his lane and off the right side of the roadway striking a guardrail and a pedestrian walking along the roadside.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries sustained from the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene. Church was transported to Ohio Health Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
