An elderly woman was chatting with another shopper at a Publix grocery store in Boynton Beach, Florida when a man stole her wallet from her open purse. The 91-year-old woman had her food stamps inside the wallet so she couldn’t pay for her groceries.
And when Boynton Beach Police Department officers arrived, Officer Janelle Jumelles asked the manager to let the woman go with her food and promised to return later to pay for the groceries. The store offered to pay for it, but the officer insisted she’d take care of it.
When Officer Jumelles explained to the senior woman that she didn’t have to pay, she was in disbelief and started to cry. After a big hug, the kind hearted officer also helped the woman cancel her credit cards and reminded her to get a new driver’s license. And then, she went to the woman’s house to deliver a $60 gift card to replace the stolen food stamps in her wallet. Now that’s a happy ending.
