It's Fun to Go Back Every Once In a While!

This 4th of July weekend I'm doing several "All 80's" shows on Mix 103.3 in Lima. On today's show, I was talking about momentous events in your life and how you remember the tiniest of details because of the flow of adrenaline. I was specifically talking about the day Michael Jackson died. I remember, I was chilling with the TV on before going to Greencamp to watch a little league baseball game. I was stunned by that news. Well, tonight the Tribe is delayed with heavy storms in Detroit, so I went to the DVR to watch the best 30 For 30 ESPN has ever produced. The Lakers and Celtics in the 84 NBA Finals. I remember watching every game. I remember trash talking with my buddies. Everyone had a team and an opinion. I was a basketball junkie then. I was coaching the game, spending time at the Park of Roses watching the summer league, which was some of the best basketball ever played in Columbus. (Francis, Brewster, Lucas, Rankin, Hitchcock, Jackson and others) AND we had the best finals EVER! Tonight, I watched that documentary and I remembered being at Skinner's house and razzing Big Ron. I remember being at Jacks house watching the games with his brother, who hated the Lakers. I saw my Italian friends at the park and they hated the Celtics because they were Sixers fans. When Bird told Dr J to retire, that was that. Me, I just loved the game, and the guys I enjoyed it with. Yeah, it was a lifetime ago, but tonight ESPN took me right back there, just like some of my favorite music does. Thanks for the memories.
