Clif Bars Are Recalled Over Nut Allergy Concerns

Heads up if you love Clif bars but have a nut allergy.

The company that makes the popular protein bar Clif Bar is recalling three of its bars because of worries about nut allergies. The company is recalling its Clif Builder's Chocolate Mint bar and two kids flavors, Clif Kid Z-Bar Protein Chocolate Mint and Chocolate Chip.

Company officials say they decided to pull the bars after getting what they call a small number of customer complaints claiming peanut or tree nut allergic reactions. The nuts that could potentially be present include peanuts, along with some tree nuts like almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts and coconuts.

The FDA announced the recall on Wednesday and said there haven't been any confirmed illnesses or allergic reactions involving the recalled bars.
