"Put Down Your Phone and Experience the Eclipse!"

These days most people spend their time taking photos of something rather than truly experiencing it, and Neil deGrasse Tyson wants to make sure that doesn’t happen with next week’s solar eclipse.

During a talk at the Museum of Natural History in New York, Tyson urged the audience to put down the phone during the August 21st event, and "experience this one emotionally, psychologically, physically."

He adds that missing the eclipse “would be to not live as full a life as you could have.” As for recording it he notes, "I get it — you want to look at it later. But then you would not have experienced it in the moment.”
