Apple, Fitbit and Samsung will be part of a federal program to improve digital health technology. The FDA announced Tuesday that the companies will participate in a software pre-certification pilot program. Several other companies will be participating, including the Google company, Verily.
The program will determine guidelines for pre-certification and identify ways that digital health companies can submit less information to the FDA than what is currently required for a new health device.
In a nutshell, new health tech is going to get to us faster, including technology to help people and doctors prevent, diagnose, and treat conditions.
