Seven-year-old Ryan Freeney has had some rough times in his life as he’s battled a number of physical problems caused by a genetic condition.
He’s made the most of things and enjoys football. He enjoys football so much, in fact, that he got together with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and asked for a football field in his back yard.
The charity group followed through and built the field. They painted end zones, hash marks and a New England Patriots logo at mid-field on the grass. They even built bleachers and team benches – and named the stadium "Ryan Freeney Field."
And then, as an added bonus, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski showed up to play with Ryan on his new field.
Ryan and Gronkowski tossed the ball back and forth before the NFL star drew up some some custom plays for Ryan – and most importantly, taught him how to do the "Gronk spike."
