Researchers at Vanderbilt University found that a dog's cerebral cortex has more than twice as many neurons as a cat's brain. Neurons are strongly related to intelligence because they're the brain cells associated with thinking, planning, and complex behaviors. The leader of the study said dogs have the biological capability to do much more complex and flexible things with their lives than cats can.
