An amazing mobile phone app developed just three years ago has already helped people eating at restaurants provide more than 100,000 meals to people in need.
23-year-old Andrew Glantz and 20-year-old Aidan Folbe created GiftAMeal in 2015.
When users of the app visit a participating restaurant all they have to do is take a photo and a donation is made to an area food bank. Even better, if the photo is shared on a social media site, the donation doubles. If shared on two sites, like Facebook and Instagram, the donation is tripled.
It’s a win-win for the restaurants and the food banks -- because the restaurants get social media attention, which drives enough extra business to make donations to the food banks.
