The Winter Olympics are well underway, and there’s no doubt a lot of Americans are tuning in to catch all the action. But not all Winter Olympic sports attract a huge audience, and there are certainly some sports that are way more popular than others..
A new Harris Poll set out to discover which Winter Olympic sports are the most popular with Americans, and let’s just say there’s a good reason NBC devotes a lot of TV time to figure skating. Overall, 63% of Americans plan to watch the Winter Olympic games, and 58% of adults say their favorite sport to watch is figure skating, followed by:
- Ski jumping (49%)
- Bobsledding (48%)
- Speed skating (47%)
- Snowboarding (43%)
As for the Olympic sports Americans are least familiar with, 64% of Americans are clueless about the Nordic Combined, while 54% don’t know much about Skeleton.
