Google’s Titan Key will let you log onto computers without using a password. The tech giant says it will soon begin selling a security key you plug into your USB port that will bypass the process of entering a password. The device has your password in it, and a unique encryption key for your computer.
Google calls it an effective solution to the pervasive problem of phishing attacks. The company has been using the security keys internally for all its employees and the result has been a major falloff in account takeovers from phishing. None of the 85-thousand employees had their accounts hacked last year. None! The company plans to start selling the security key soon.
There are already high priced keys on the market, but Google’s will only cost 25 bucks.
