Ohio's Gasoline Tax Could Nearly Double!

State officials are saying the state has run out of money for needed road and bridge repairs. Authorities from across Ohio testified yesterday about the lack of funding county engineers and the state's department of transportation are facing as repairs and expansion projects become more critical. Members of the transportation committee also discussed a possible increase in Ohio's gas tax to help fill the estimated one-billion dollar gap ODOT is facing. The current tax of 28-cents per gallon hasn't changed in 15 years and commissioners are being told it might need to be increased by another 25-cents to combat revenue shortfalls.
