Here's How To Have Summer Workout Success!

Summer is in full swing and for a lot of people, that means outdoor workout season has arrived. Celebrity trainer Don Saladino has worked with clients including Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds and he knows how to step up outside workouts for maximum results. These are his pointers for getting toned at home while exercising in the fresh air.

  • Find a safe, designated workout space - Before you start your sweat sesh, make sure the area you’re using is safe, even if it’s your own yard. Make sure there are no sharp objects or landmines left by passing pets because you don’t want to be stepping in that mess. And if you’re going to a public place, make sure to wear your face mask.
  • Make a workout plan - Saladino says one easy way to get started is doing sprints in the yard. “Sprinting is a great way to lower your blood pressure and build-up fast-twitch muscles,” he says.
  • Try going barefoot - If you’re sticking to your own lawn and you’ve checked it for dangerous objects, the celeb trainer recommends kicking off your shoes and being barefoot on the grass. He explains that this is called “Earthing” or “grounding” and that it “connects us better with the environment, transferring electrons from the ground to the body.” And he says it’s been shown to help with sleep and reducing pain, too.
  • And don’t forget the sunscreen - If you’re going to be sweating it out and soaking up the sun, make sure to coat your skin with SPF first.
