A lot of Americans were stuck in the house with their family for months, with few chances to escape. But it turns out a lot of people did find at least one place to have some alone time – their cars.
A new poll by TrueCar finds:
- 73% of Americans use their car to get away from the people they live with.
- Most Americans are grateful for their cars for lots of reasons, using them for things like:
- Leisurely drives (56%)
- Road trips (45%)
- Getting quiet time for myself (41%)
- Going for a day-trip (40%)
- Place for private/business calls (37%)
- Makeshift office (32%)
- To go somewhere I’ve never been before (30%)
- Going to a drive-in movie (28%)
- Going hiking (26%)
- Turns out, 69% of Americans consider their car an extension of their home.
- Another 68% think of their car as part of the family.
- 35% of car owners have actually named their car.
- When it comes to their vehicle, the average person will eat 288 meals, and sing 432 songs in their vehicle.
- Two-thirds say they’ve had some incredible life moments in their car.
- For example, 42% have had their first kiss in their car, while 40% have had the “move in together” conversation with a partner.
