It used to be that the most challenging question in any job interview was, “What’s your five-year plan?” But things have changed in 2022 and the Wall Street Journal wants you to be as prepared as possible with the rules on finding a new job in 2022.
- Get personal -- If it isn’t relevant to the job, keep it to yourself -- but if you need flexibility because of children or school, it bears mentioning at some point.
- Raise 'em up -- Now is the time to get that salary increase you’ve been wanting. Just research the role to make sure you’re within the acceptable range for the position. And be prepared to negotiate.
- Burnout victim -- Be mindful of over-eager hiring agents or rushing through the interview process. It could mean that the company is working lean and you could be slammed as soon as you start.
- Vaccine status -- It isn’t likely that they’ll ask, but they could mention if it is required or not.
- Remote control -- If working from home is important to you, make sure that you have this option.
